| 04 Apr | Michael Bell usually starts out with a batch of usable 2yos of various abilities in April and debut winners are rare and promising places more typical. Yesterday's win with Art Connoisseur at Leicester might suggest his runners are more forward than usual but he also probably found a weak race to win. With Jamie Spencer again on board there's a chance that Bahamian Babe is another natural. She's likely to be a more limited type than the best of the colts though and comes close up in third by profile rating. |
| 05 Apr | Right, so Bahamian Babe isn't going to be that hot to look good in this group after all. She's on the small side but neatly made, a good active mover and more forward in condition than the average. She's close to being the tallest in the group competing with Hartshead Flyer although less strongly built (as fillies usually are and hence the 5lb allowance). Once she settles down from the display prancing the young fillies often show you would be inclined to shift her up the profile. Plus, the generally knowledge on the day was that she at least up to Art Connoisseur's level. Anyway, a precocious early type but not with longer term, higher quality prospects. |
| 20 Apr | At Thirsk Michael Bell's Bahamian Babe continued the handler's 100% start to the season by winning the Novice race. She only scrambled home in the end but is value for more than the winning distance. She had the rail advantage but got into a battle for the lead with Saxford & Marygate who had both run before. She saw those two off well enough for both of that pair to disintegrate and finish well back and went clear towards the final furlong. Unsurprisingly she got tired in the final furlong and hung left allowing the outpaced Gone Hunting to close on her but she went through the race like much the best horse. |
