Tepmokea (York, KR Burke, 5-6f)
-
Anjuna (Leicester, JHM Gosden, June to August). His second
debut runner in the period was Muraweg in the 7f maiden at Sandown yesterday.
A distance and a particular race he has a good record with debut runners
in. However, the horse drifted in the market and Paddock Review supported
the drift. Medium sized at best and immature and slouching around with
the experience too much for him. Similar to the first debut runner qualifier
at Windsor last week. Probably a good indicator of why he gets debut winners
with better types and in a somewhat unpredictable way.
-
The juveniles from the stable aren't mentally primed for debut and even
those with good profiles, who may prove useful or better, can put in just
so-so starting efforts. The better class runners can still win through
plain ability even though well below their best but this is less predictable.
Occaionally an average maiden winner type, not better class, can turn in
a professional debut unexpectedly (to the stable as well as generally) and win as well. But again not entirely
predictable and even with Paddock Review information a difficult set up
to spot.
