SUMMARY
2Going Soft but conditions much tougher than that & times suggest Heavy. Also a stiff headwind. Only one 6f race at course slower than this one since 2002. Times above 78s rare.
Bizarre race to watch and horses walking home like an NH race. Form to treat with caution because winner only one to see race out at all and what he proved was he can handle heavy going. Put him back on faster 6f and he is suspect.
Line-of-5 form up early & going freely & finish in last 5 places. 1st 3 home inlast three places early. Johnnyleary, Nave & Tarrants Way fade out of Lo5 before halfway and soon well back. Whelkeen Rock & Merseyside Star go in pair with WR going better. MStar fade 2f out. WRock a taller model & headed 1.5F out and faded dramatically in the final 1F. Hardly able to raise a walk at the finish and back with the horses he left behind before halfway. A positive view of him overall and worth a chance to show better form on firmer going STO.
Some positive for Diman Waters who made ground to 3rd through halfway and some response after Hf before the inevitable fade.
Placed horses trundle into those spots from off pace and fading themselves so worthless form.
Overall a race to treat with great caution & a staying effort by the winner. Given the unusual conditions worth giving the better physical types a chance to prove better in more normal circumstances.
