A strong maiden on profile and it appeared to fulfil the promise. The first 4, plus the 5th if being green & uneasy on firmer going, look horses to take seriously at maiden level & above. Stalls stands' side but field race centre & drift towards far side later. Pace set by two outsiders with 1st 3 home in 3rd-5th at Hf within 2L. Rakaan make progress to join lead 2F out & then showed ability to quicken & went 2L clear. Similar amount clear until stalled in the last 0.5 furlong. Change of Pace shown looked real & above average on that & very difficult to beat if uses that ability later in race. Fremont a touted Hannon newcomer & supported. 1 lngth ahead of Rakaan at halfway but lose 3L as that one made effort. Respond & kept gap at 2L & Jk sense in last furlong that leader was stopping. Harder ridden than normal to lead late. Stable debut winners normally well above average & up to Listed class, at least. A good debut & probably typical Hannon FTO winner quality. Spencer rode Rakaan rather than State Fair. SF again outpaced by a better class sprinter as he had LTO. Again, he responded well to be gaining at finish & going forward. Some mix of stiffer test & easier ground should see him rate well over OR80. Beaten by better horses at trip. Marine Spirit a good size & powerful. Green & ran too freely with Jk having to work at holding him up. Made ground with effort before fade. One to follow. OGrey prob much better than showed, Watch for support NTO. |
