SUMMARY

2Heavy showers in morning. Ground squelchy & water lying in surface in places. Field raced centre to stands' side & spread toward rail late.
A lot of slow starts and inexperience. WOTM got to easy lead and set an average pace then kicked 2f out & went 2 lengths clear. Difficult to make ground from behind on going & 2nd-3rd & 5th all held up behind midfield to make WOTM's job easier. Other prominent horses lesser types other than DiStef who made ok progress with the 2f out effort.
2f sprint in effect with WOTM given a 3L+ start on the main closers & rest of the field limited or too green.
Good promise from Planet Red to close late on after taking time to respond 2f out. ODQueen also made ground but not stay on as strongly. DiStef ok promise. State Fair better than 5th and one to follow. Unfocussed in prelims & unseated Jk when offered to stalls and cantered loose to 8f starts & back. Spencer quiet ride in race and hampered as making ground inside 2f out. Jk accept after that & held and goingon at the finish.
Clan Piper made no progress from 2f out and allowed to fade before the last 1f. Little immediate promise behind although One Cool Buck a better type than his worked up prelims & incompetent running made him appear.
