SUMMARY

2Firm going and a tailwind and fast conditions. Older handicapper Peter Island broke the 19yo 6f course record in the previous race.
Typical late support for KApproach. Italian Tom bought at DBS breeze-ups 17 days ago & talked up as sharper debutexpected than a normal stable one.
Line-of-3 form on stands' rail early with ITom on rail, KApp in middle and FGiles coming across from wide draw to wing. These 3 hooked up close together for most of the race and set a stiff pace. RDesert within2L at halfway and niggled and PMacho just behind under more pressure. Petrocelli 5L back and GBaker 12L at not asked for an effort by the Jk.
Lo3 made an effort together uphill 2F out and took 1L out of RDesert. All three hung right to diff degrees later in race with FGiles cocking his head left and hanging badly right from 2F out uphill as he had here FTO. But he kept going and duelled with KApp to the line and just lost to a more balanced & professional runner. ITom dropped off this pair late in the last 1F. These 3 were stalling from 1F in and RDesert & Petrocelli closed in notably late and would have got by with an extra 0.5f.
KApp ran to best. FGiles can do better & ITom can improve a little. Promise from 3rd & 4th but closing on faders.
