| Going : GF
Race Pace : 2 Time : 77.22 s Weight: 115 lbs |
Stalls nearly full width of course. Rakaan ran away with Fallon and 3 lengths clear after a furlong. He ran centre to far side and drifted left in later race. This 'Magnet' added to other prominent runners in centre track early & a set of hold up horses close to the stands' side meant the field finished far side. First & Fourth in 2 of the last 3 places after 1.5f and closest to the stands rail. In general race where deep closing possible and being within 5.5L of the runaway leader to halfway meant you were probably going too fast. Swilly Ferry had demonstrated an ability to make a notable 2-3L effort back in the Brocklesby & later races but seemed to then fade tamely. With more hold up tactics the forward effort has seen him make strong finishes in last two runs. Made a strong forward move here and finished the race off. Fremont lost ground to him as SF made that effort but then stayed on strongly in the last 1.5F & going on at the finish. Taajub did best of the prominent runners & the Race Pace perhaps why he performed well below his Gimcrack run. |
