Heavy rain in morning and showers during the meeting with ground changing from GGS to GS after race 5. Difficult ground conditions for green 2yos in various fitness states. Barzan for trainer who has FTOs well prepared this year & fittest & most forward in condition. Taken to lead & set a solid pace and faster than Div II probably. Stalked by Canford Cliffs, going well, through the race and left behind by that one later on and faded. Canford Cliffs as a debut winner in this race for trainer is likely to be close to best of their current 6f 2yos. Won easily & showing a change of pace on softer ground. Solid place type for Coventry Stakes with improvement for fitness. Rakaan never in race and green at times. Given a typical Spencer hold up ride. Just ok promise in plugging on past the faders with nothing much proved. Minor promise amongst the others with Listillo appearing to move well on ground in early stages but then looking awkward on it later. Prob OR70+. Ant Music look an OR70+ developmen project & not fit nor forward enough in condition here. |
