SUMMARY
Drying conditions and ground quicker that expected as GGF.
Fourth runner of season for Hannon & previous three had won including taking success for Folkestone runner 20 minutes before this race. Richard Hughes here to ride this one and said before the race that this was the quickest of the first batch of runners. perhaps not the best long-term but the quickest now. Supported on Betfair from early and in the Market on the day as if he was a 'certainty' aided by a thin field, on Profile, in opposition aside from Scarlet Rocks who had appeared a short runner. She again stalled soon into the final furlong with Hughes sitting still waiting for the right moment to move into the lead without really pressing Zebedee.
Solid pace and field well spread from early. Only Triple Agent go with first two home early and a good size. But visored for debut and seemed to pack it in inside 2F from home. Perhaps tired but seemed to be some unwillingness involved.
3rd home a small filly who has been seller declared. Never in race and plugged on from midfield to finish a clear Volunteer 3rd. 5L back to rest who are well spread and quality of race outside the first 2 low (OR63 & under?) unless something in the ruck very clueless and can iprove notably.
Gannon appears low down on Evans jockey ranking with 3rd home the best of a pair of fillies declared for the Warwick seller for the trainer. New 7lb apprentice rode the 3rd and Gannon on the third string. Also not at Folkestone to ride Bajan Bullet on day and 5lb apprentice rode that, after coming back from his long whip ban. Gannon had ridden that one on previous outings.
Solid pace for race and an awful lot of gormlessness had the field spread out from an early stage and over around 25 lengths at halfway. The first 6 through halfway produce the first 5 home plus the worst fader as Triple Agent expired in the last 1F.
Hard to feel that those behind the first 3 behind the Garbage Gap achived anything than would normally win an open Maiden or Auction event. 4th & 5th showed some ability and faded but poor form.
Galtymore Lad had been fractious in the prelims. Reared up twice in the stalls and got his leg over the side of the stall on both occasions. The second time was just after the last horse had been loaded so the jockey just got back on and away he went unchecked. But, Jockey hauled him to the back of the race early and never ashed him for any effort. So, one that might be better than they showed. Interesting to note that jockey Culhane here to ride GLad for Findlay when the same owner's Saucy Buck appeared to be punted sown at Folkestone. Culhane had retainer with the owner in 2009.
Making places after halfway through the stragglers a highly suspect form of promise. Worth noting that the last two at halfway got themselves to 6th & 7th at the finish at the front of the remote ruck. Russian Ice did this more comfortably up the rail until switching left into the last 1F. Had been very green early. Owned by trainer's father Ken Ivory and the type they would be very keen to win with.
Ad Vitam also very green early and remained so through race. Hung behind the other runners in centre track when making ground around the stragglers and only got to 7th late for pressure. This sort of effort for trainer S. Kirk can indicate a usable one at a low level. Check NTO.
Silly Billy given a very, very, easy time in drifting back in the last 2F. Another to check having shown a small bit of ability to get to midfield early.
