Barry Hills website in News for w/b May 23rd = "There is only one runner on Wednesday as well when Letsgoroundagain makes the trip up to Ayr. He had sore shins following his very promising first run at Newbury and we are looking for some ease in the ground for him, which we'll hopefully find in Scotland."

Traditionally a strong maiden and juvenile Group winners Amadeus Wolf & Shaweel won in 2005 & 2008. The 2010 edition was won by Dubawi Gold who has placed at Group 1 level at 3yo. 2007 & 2009 relatively empty versions with just odd winner in but a couple of useful handicap sprinters involved. This race looked reasonably strong on profile and a very lazy favourite and 8/11f just daft. A very good example of how judging a race needs a bit more thought. Watch the last 2F of his debut and LGRA seems to finish strongly to get to 4th. But, he has been well behind and missed the pace that broke up most of the others. You could say he was doing nothing more than plugging on into faders. He seemed to show a bit more than that but not looking better class. A solid lower 80s handicapper and just a neat, medium size and vulnerable to better types. He also started slowly FTO and the Hills jockey problem then kicked in and he was allowed to hide away at the back. Drawn widest here on a windy day and with the rail a possible advantage and no chance the jockey will try and get to the lead on it. Opposed by some bigger types and beaten comfortably by two notably bigger horses who ran competently down the rail. 8/11f just a stupid price. Look at the NWBY form in 2-D and he has finished not far behind 3 placed horses who have competed at Listed & Conditions level since and ahead of a number of later winners. But, what about the quality and what about whether he actually showed real ability to compete in a tough sprint maiden - TO WIN.

Kevin Ryan interviewed after the race and said he expected Bogart to run well and that jockey Mulrennan had ridden most of his work at home and was quite confident. Trainer Ryan has had 2 x Debut wins at Ayr in recent years which have started 5/4f and 11/8f (including Amadeus Wolf). The SPs overall have normally been a good indicator of the level they expect. Bogart seemed to start 10/1 because Ryan was worried because he had heard that some of the others were strongly fancied. Perhaps he also fell for the LGRA line as well. Said that Bogart had always been professional at home and that now he had won they could put him away and turn him out for 3-4 weeks. He planned to bring him back in late July for a second half of the season career and thought he would stay 7-8f. Thought the horse won at 6f [On soft ground and staying best] on ability. Trainer also added some other general insights saying that he like to start his bigger and better types here and HYDK because they were galloping and often had smaller fields so a good experience for the horse. Said that when they identify the good ones at home they tend to keep them separate and do not work them harder together. He then echoed a change in plan that Channon had said in interview earlier this season. Said he had gone 'back to basics' (same phrase as Channon) in 2010 and tried to buy yearlings as 2yo sprint types rather than looking for 3yo developers. Also said that Bapak Chinta had never been off the bridle at home and wasn't for his HTON win. That horse would have run in the National Stakes but had a minor setback. He would now go straight to the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. All said matter-of-factly and clearly BC a horse to take seriously.
