SUMMARY
Showers on day started at 7:00am. Good Going at that time. Going Stick = Cente 9.0, FarSide 8.9 & Stands' Side 8.5. 11mm of Rain during the Morning and Going changed to GSS. This race run 3.12s slower than the Windsor Castle on Tuesday.

This field had the prominent finishers wider out than mid-track after earlier winners more Stands' side. Best closer - Burwaaz - ran down the Stands' rail so not simple to decouple the Track and Pace interaction. Bapak Chinta best of the prominent runners and racing wide and a smooth traveller who seems to have both a high cruising speed and an ability to tough out a battle if pressed. On top of Boonerang Bob at the finish and going away again after that one seemed to be the best of the Pouncers and challenged to 1f out.

Stiff Breeze as a direct Headwind.

------- Pre-Race Quotes --------------

Hannon on his website = "Crown Dependency looked pretty smart when he won first time out at Goodwood, and the third, our own Airborne Again, has won since, so it was probably a decent maiden. He drops back a furlong but he has plenty of speed. Tell Dad has been suffering from second-itis, but he did nothing wrong against B Fifty Two at Newmarket last time, and the winner upheld the form when finishing sixth in the Coventry. Marcus Augustus ran well against Airborne Again at Salisbury but then got beaten when odds-on at Sandown so has a bit to prove."

Ed Dunlop on his website = "You can never be dogmatic about the draw at the 'new' Ascot, but, having watched proceedings on the opening day of the Royal meeting, we have no doubt that Burwaaz, who starts from stall 17 in Thursday's Norfolk Stakes, looks to be on the right side. Ed said: I'd rather be drawn high on what I have seen so far, so we got our wish there. Burwaaz showed a lot of promise on his debut at Nottingham (6f), being beaten a nose, but we switched him back to five at Leicester to see if he had the speed for this and he won really well. He has a fantastic temperament which is a big help here, but whether he is good enough we are about to find out."

Dascombe on a small message sevice on the morning = "We'll be looking at the ground before deciding whether to run Bear Behind, but Pyman's Theory runs & we're hoping the draw bias has flipped!"

Channon on his website on Tuesday = "Signifer is far better than he showed in his last run at The Curragh. Whether he's good enough to win the Norfolk is a big question, but he deserves his place. If he can get cover all the better"
