Hannon Website in relation to the Relaid Surface and being fined for his NRs because of his views on it = "RICHARD HANNON plans to appeal against the £180 fines imposed for withdrawing both Caramack and Impel at Kempton's Polytrack meeting on Tuesday night. An angry Hannon, who has withdrawn Manderville, our only entry at tonight's Kempton fixture, said: 'The relaid surface is simply not acceptable. Caramack cost £170,000 at the Breeze-Up Sales and is too valuable a horse to risk on ground which the jockeys all agreed was terrible. We declared the horses before Silkee Supreme ran for us there on Monday at the first meeting since they had the track relaid, and he has come back lame. We train on the Polytrack surface so we know how it should ride, and there is no comparison to what we encountered at Kempton. The times suggested that it was slow, but it was far worse than anybody envisaged, and I am appalled that, having done what we think is in the best interest of the two horses, we get fined.'"

Poor stuff from Hannon coming across as his huffy old geezer act. Also on display at Bath recently when interviewed in winners' enclosure got his soapbox out and moaned about prize money for other winners he had recently had. Obvious substance in that grip but the bit above doesn't work. No-one suggested the surface was 'risky', just slow.
