SUMMARY
Stiff SW Wind = 3/4 Tailwind Downhill & 1/2+ Tailwind from Left HS.

Euthenia apparently 2nd string for Channon ridden by A3 Bishop with A3 WTD on Jersey Belle Euthenia's last work gallop video is in a 4 with Malabar (2nd on debut at HYDK 11/4) along with River Spirit (3 x moderate runs, 1 place) and the unraced Penny Race. Malabar seems to go best and sticking with OR90 3yo filly to the finish. Euthenia in clear 2nd and looking bulky but lacking some pace. Is JBelle thought the more likely for the day and Euthenia with more scope but lacking fitness/sharpness here?

Faster Time but note the Tailwind comments above.

Why wasn't Ski Slope odds-on here? On Profile she is at least one level above the males on what they have shown on-course and ran promisingly FTO. She represents a totally reliable trainer and jk. On ATR pictures in the Parade Ring she doesn't look as good as expected. Tall enough but leggy and shallowed bodied behind plus a bit narrow. But her frame and size just about making up for her lack of power. But, stil looking green in the prelims as well. How good, ot not, was that NMKT maiden she debuted in? But, even so if the 2nd fav is a small colt like Basil The Great who has looked a low scope low 60s type then if she is still 70+ (if not the full Open Maiden) then she is well in rxing 5lbs.

Adding to the bafflement is why on earth is Feeling Easy opening at 5/1 in the Market? Look at his Beeze Video and he is a small amd limited one who trundles round anonymously. The trainer has a solid record winning Auction races with cheap ones but from STO on. His only FTO win was in close to the worst seller of it's season by a mid-50s but nippy filly. This sort of over-reaction from the Market for CR Eddery 2yos not new though,, for example see Red Oasis in 2013 who started 3/1 and a supported 6/1 for his first two goes before the 'Emperor's New Clothes' dropped away and the fact he was a small and slow one sunk in. 150/1 on 3TO.

Result has the right 'Shape' to suggest Ski Slope ran into a pretty empty race here and two of the trainers who can get strong, or at least competent, debuts had the 2nd & 3rd. Trainer Kirk's record was 2yos has diminished to poor in recent years but he has had a draw biased FTO win with a clueless filly and now a FTO 2nd for an owner breeder (Jim Smith) who has provided him with much of the quality he has had over the years. Eve JH regularly gets placed debuts and this the 3rd in 2014 with the others at 16/1 and 20/1. Being a female perhaps meaning the Market underestimates her and so the long SPs.

Broken Race to a large extent with Basil The Great going quietly berserk in his FT headgear. Had ppulled to at least 4L clear after 1.5F. That pace plus the usual mix of slow starts, greenery, the need to drop-in on a turning Track and Tomorow riding behind meant the field spread over a large distance by that. At that point the winner had to come from those in 2nd to 5th with Feeling Easy (not if you backed it) already driven along in 6th to try to hang onto the first 5 at that point. The rest spread well back and already out of the race.

A bit like watching a Scratch Race in the HS the with the bigger ones of some interest in the future going away from and closing into the small ones who had been given a head start.

The ones in 1st to 3rd & 5th with a double green patch in the result line showing they made places and ground from halfway to the line. Secret Lightning staying on in the HS after running a bit gree ine early race then failing to handle the downhill and bend to the HS. Might 70. More interest in Golden Wedding who got well behind and made a better job of making that ground back until he joined up with SL in the HS and they stayed on together. GW looking a bigger galloper in this field and lacking much of a kick. Looks more a 7f+ stayer but prob has size to be 70+. Euthenia given a quiet ride overall and making similar ground int he HS to the others but along the rail and not Centre track. Which meant she got blocked and held up at times but responding to go on again. As in her Work Gallop VT she looks bulky and a slow developer but ok promise here.

Godric s similar size to BTG and blown away by SSlope in the HS. Seems a low 60s one. Jersey Belle another maller on and late 50s say and those 3 may well meet again in low level nurseries. Feeling Easy green then outpaced and moving awkwardly in the HS and doing nothing positive to think he isn't a small lower to mid 50s one.

Vague interest in at least checking Bombay Mix STO as although another small one like the others in the back half but showed a bit more than they did once organised. St Paul's Square given a quiet ride but the lack of size and balance at times in the race meant it looked more like duff one making sue it didn't get an unworkable OR57 in a slow race rather than a plot to hide the talent of a usable one.by Osborne.
