=== Pre Race ===

Good example how the range of 2yos Hannon has enables them to exploit most niches. Race conditions limit it to 2yos by sires with a yearling median level at £10k or below in 2013 (not 2014). Sire of Agueroo - Monsieur Bond went to stud in 2005 and got largish early crops. That had dwindled in the 2010-12 period. Then he had Gp1 winners Move In Time and Gilt Edge Gil (plus Gp1 placed Hoof It). In 2013-14 he had 42 and 55 yearlings offered at sales. A bounce-back caused by the evidence of him getting good ones. But his 2013 Median was way down at 3,417gns (only 4,637gns in 2014). But he gets a wide range of prices and Agueroo cost 70,000gns (close to the sire's highest) and much more than the cost of all the others put together (using sires' covering fee for the Owner Breds). Hannons able to put a sales price (and presumably a physical type) in the 'wrong' race/company.

Hannon very bullish about Agueroo in 215 but picture on MPR website (prob from March) making him look a bit smaller. In VRev probabaly is short and just IP body length but deep and strong. MPR rep interviewed before the race and much more realistic about ability level than usual MPY hype. Said that Agueroo was green and after 50yds you would know whether the horse knew enough to be "thereabouts" at the finish.

=== Post Race ===

Agueroo slightly slow break but then very active to try to save the rail. Did enough for that but Aguerooo niggled by 2f out and not raising much extra effort. Never quite fading but not picking up. Towering over the small to smaller Sixties Sue who did just enough to hang on from a small colt and Kumanavsunfun who was 3rd in a seller FTO.

What was the Agueroo hype about in earlier season? Check whether he snaps together STO or whether the hype just media gushing. Was putting him this race limited by sires' median a bit 'desperation' and not just working-the-system.

[June 18th] Mixed story with Gerrards Quest. Medium and stronger than average. But, not looking straightforward here and a stop/start effort and GQ never piecing a proper race together. Fine for 1f+ to get from a wider draw to 2R at 1 off the rail. But then mixing being a bit free with getting unbalanced at times until before 2f out. If he had picked up professionally at that point and run straight he might well have won. Instead taking time to pick up and looking some mix of green, going a bit firm (switches to Polytrack 3TO) and perhaps some negative attitude. Hanging left and bumping the 3rd home inside the last 1f and the jk having the whip knocked out of his hands trying to swtich it over. GQ then just maintaining his pace rather than looking as if he was really trying fully. Still drifting left at the finish and having bumped Kumanahavsumfun before she leaps in the air at the line as if he has tried to do something to her (bite/kick?). GQ ought to be 70+ if he runs fully professionally.

Race Conditions = "£4,800 guaranteed For 2yo whose sire established one or more yearling sales in 2013 with a median price of not more than £10000 Weights colts & geldings 9st 5lb, fillies 9st Entries 18 pay £ 24 Penalty value 1st £3,105.12 2nd £924.00 3rd £461.76 4th £230.88"
