SUMMARY
G from GS on Decs.

Stiff to Medium Westerly Wind = 3/4 Headwind from the R.

=== Pre Race ===

Picture of Force at the DBU sale shows a smaller medium to medium and ready one. Looking complete and can strengthen a bit but not looking likely to grow much. Likeable attitude and a trier in the Breeze Video. Runs straight and perhaps a just above average action speed. Middling range. Still going forward at the finish and efficient enough overall. Size a niggle. Suggestion made on Twitter that Force might be here to prep for the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot. The sire must have won over 10f or further to qualify to run in that early 7f event.

=== Post Race ===

Average Pace at most and a slower time for the conditions. Strong Challenge able to get to the lead and cross to the rail comfortably and control the race from there. Race developing into a 2f sprint with Strong Challenge a likeable effort and very professional now. Doing more than just cashing in his loose-on-the-lead rail position in the last 2f. Good effort from Gutaifan to chase him hard in a clear 2nd.

slightly slow start but jk inactive & ended up 3 behind the usable pace. Making some CZ progress but cut off by Gutaifan towards 2f out. But, unable to match the forward effort of the first two and staying to a slightly Volunteer 3rd. Check PRev but still looking a bit medium at best.

Song Of Shadows another Appleby debut who was much too green to get invovled. Slow start, racing out wide then going a bit better in mid-race to the lesser pace. Hanging right wider still and moving short in front in the 2f sprint. Appleby record now a grand total of two places from 14 debuts. 8 of those have finished 9th or worse with 7 at negative ratings. Of interest is the fact that his 3 x STO winners are 3 of the 4 who showed most FTO (2nd, 4th & 5th on debut rating 19 to 28). SC's win for Suroor brings Godolphin's STO record so far to 5 wins from 8 with two of the non-winners at 16/1 & 25/1. Appleby debuts at SPs from 3/1 to 16/1 and no correlation with placing/rating. Market has some knowledge that Appleby debuts are unready fro the most part but little knowledge about which are the competitive 2yos.

[June 14th] Gutaifan given a hold up ride to some extent by Dettori and a touch free overall. Above average effort at 2f out having switched wider out to go to a clear 2nd. Positive in PRev as notably strongly built and moves his bulk ok. Strong Challenge one of two Suroor entries for the Coventry along with Steady Pace. Godolphin also have Log Out Island purchased to stay in the Hannon yard in the Coventry.

[June 30th] Outrank looking unfit in the prelims but bulky enough to be 7+ if not fully neatly made. Too free and holding his head to the left and offerring to hang right against the jk's hold. But, losing ground quickly before 2f out and last adrift and looking as if there was a problem into the last 1.5f. Interesting inthe sense that he is physically better than he showed and the free running a part excuse. In a season where MaJo has had far more 2yo runners he has had far fewer 'Lost Debuts' than typical. As if his focus on getting the 2yos ready making them more forward as a group. Outrank's debut here the worst, by some way, of his 55 debuts to June 29th. None of the debuts rated under 5 have produced a later winner and only one placer. Outrank in the check-for-develpment pile rather than expecting a STO blossom. But, presuming he runs prominently on this downhill course on fast ground will be hang around until into the last 1f?

[Aug 6th] Sharara the size and build to be around 75. In blinkers here as if something might be off with his attitude. A number of items in this run would add to that view. Broke fine but running head up early. The allowed to drop back in stages to last before halfway and perhaps being held back. Several bits of jumping up during that period and perhaps fighting the hold from the jk but an unusual looking way to do it. Jk then seeming to want to keep Sharara in behind others for as long as possible. Horse travelling fine doing this then nothing much happened when pulled out and asked to make more effort. Looking as if the horse had decided to jog home rather than fading. Sharara a 62 day break to 3TO and a Gelding by then.
