SUMMARY
GFG by 07:30am from GGF on Decs.

Stiff- ENE Wind = 3/4 Tailwind from the Right (untypical direction).

Stalls Centre.

Fast Time but just an Average Pace to past Halfway. Unusual Tailwind and GF ground without the CoC having watered it (which would be typical later in the season). [Update] OR103 Rating 5yo Robot Boy apparently broke the Course Record in the 3:55 race with a 58.44secs carrying 127lbs. Previous record 59.19secs. (Note = why do Time/Sectional merchants make such hard work of passing verbal hints of Wind & Direction around to each other on Twitter, etc. The Met Office/BBC give very accurate forcecasts in the morning before the racing and Wind Speed, Direction and Max Gust Speeds at 15 mins intervals through the day FCS??)

=== Post VRev ===

Race with a usable pace and a straightforward 'Effort Test' off that Pace in the last 2f. Ought to mostly spread the field out by the ability they were ready to show on the day. The fast Raw Time of the level that only Listed+ 2yos run. Only times below 60.0secs in the 2010-14 period in the last 2 Supersprints won hy Tiggy Wiggy (OR117 at 2yo) and Peniaphobia (rated OR120+ in HK at present). Next best time since start 2002 by 6f Gp2 winning 2yo Flashy Wings in 2005.

Clearly fast conditions with two course records broken across the 2 day meeting but still a Fast Time with 3 horses clear at the finish. Are they all Listed+ Class or were the conditions extraordinarily quick? The VP Pictures and the overall PRev view not suggesting the first three home were obviously outstanding and pointing more towards good 2yos in very fast conditions and a race run very efficiently.

Harvard Man and rare 5f debut for Meehan of late and unusually early. Since he cost 120k, has a real 5f 2yo pedigree and runs for an important owner you would expect a useful one and 80+ on profile. Usually a good sign when Meehan runners win FTO because he doesn't fine tune them for debut. HM attending the pace comfortably and making the best effort int he last 2f to go 2L+ clear with the Jk taking time to look backwards around 1f out to see if he could coast home. But, lack of full tuning meant HM stalling in the last 1f and givinfg the chasing pair some hope. Solid medium one with some length and still very up behind. Inclined to think he is 85+ and Listed winner level if he develops normally.

Hannon debuts for the Queen usually compete well if they have the ability and the 7/1 SP here a surprise in that context. Ring Of Truth a different physical type to her full brother Musical Comedy whom Hannon also trained. He was a bigger development type who won 3 times as a 2yo (all on softer going) with the last a Nursery win off OR86. He won a 6f Listed event as a 3yo. ROT a medium and neatly made one with jk Hughes looking a bit 'big' on her. But, a balanced set up and strong enough. Ran like she lacked a bit of top end pace in this fast 5f and dropped from 2nd to 4th in the 4th 1f. Then stayed on again in the last 1f to close back up to HM and pass him after the line. That just inexperince or 6f better. Given she is a ready early type with some scope you could expect her to be OR80s at least and be tried at Listed level at some point. Check basic pace STO.

Sixth Sense ran in a messy race FTO and did not appear to hangle the sticky going and finished mixed up with some lesser types. Picture of him which appeared later on the MaJo website made him look better than the debut appeared. Confirming that view in PRev here and bigger than expected and solidly built if not that neatly made. OR80+. Might well have been involved in the Photo Finish to win if he had not Hung Left for most of the last 1.5f+. Made the 2nd best effort 2f out and left ROT behind for eg. But, the hanging got to the point towards the last 0.5f that Jk de Sousa stopped rining forward and dragged him back right. As SS then got going again he found himself in a closing gap between HM & ROT and the Jk stood up and eased (see Photo Fin Picture above with SS in Green/Red cap with the jk stopping him pulling forward into a sort-of-gap).

Zeeoneandonly a Lost Debut 4 days before as a 2nd string and spend the race hanging left and looking overawed by the day. She had been entered for the earliest races of the season so another Evans 2yo out 3 weeks after being ready to go. Best break here and able to run in the lead. Solid effort at 2f out before left behind by the better types in the race. Ok size if the narrow end of the Zebedee get and presume 70+.

Thaqaffa the 3rd runner of the season for Tregoning who has only had the odd, late May, runner before June in the last 4 seasons. The trainer's 2yo record has declined hugely over the last few years and the early start trying to make some impact? His first 2 debuts small & lesser ones and one owned by himself. An 80k one owned by Hamdo (where would Tregoning be without that support?) clearly should be out early for a different reason = because he has good ability. Looked a shoter on with some length but good strength. Should be 75+ and check whether any better. A bit green here overall and a slower start but able to get back to the leaders and travel ok into the last 2f. An early stall and fade fitting in with nt being that ready for the day.

Trainer Beckett has a very good record of getting wins with cheap ones and Another Boy reatined for £5.5k at a 2yo HiT sale (not Breeze). A medium size but not neatly made. Ran competently and an ok effort at 2f out. Ok for 66-70 and presume Beckett will target an Auction race or lesser course Maiden STO.

Sparky Boy s smaller and compact type of the sire and a bit underpowered. Ran better than expected given the trainer who rarely gets 2yos wins.Might be usable lower 60s but trainer has a poor record.

Peter Chapple-Hyam used to start good or useful ones in this race if he had them and often for the 'Comis Strip Heroes'. Winning it with Winker Watson and runners-up with Johnny Alpha and Skid Solo. His last runner in 2011 was a 5th with Chunky Diamond. All 80+ types. He does front-load competitive types and can get debut wins with better types (despite toning down the debut preparation at home). Ginger Joe without a 5f early pedigree and seemed to be here more because he is a smaller one than being a better one. Looking a 60s type. Spencer riding who ensured GJoe ended up well back behind the pace. Some low level plugging on 2f out before Spencer packed up early, as ever. Doesn't seem a typical early PWCH runner and more an expendable one out early because of lack of scope.

Hawkbill the 3rd debut for Appleby after the first 2 had finished poor last & one-from-last in the same race the previous day. Hawkbill even worse and looking like he would/could not run in the Hood. Wearing it presumably because a bit suspect anyway. Adrift from early on and unable/refused to get going at all. Sleepy and not looking fit in the prelims. Seems an ok size and build and ok for 75 but the Appleby 2yos in a stage where they need to develop a lot. Worth noting Appleby had a terrific time on the AW over the winter and some people tried to link that success to how his early 2yos would perform. The juveniles would have undertaken an entirely different training regime with NO contact or influence from the 3yo regime. Need to treat them separately. As ever phrases like "The stable is in form.." are more muanced, and interesting, than Pundit Lite would suggest.

Aragon Kinght did seem to have an excuse of being crossed early before diving right but most horses in that situation back off and lose ground not speed up and veer right going very quickly. Which would suggest something else involved. Trainer has not had a 2yo winner with 41 runs by 16 individual 2yos. Looking raw mentally and physically in the prelims. Has the potential to be usable 60s at least but another trainer with no record to suggest they can extract the ability. Presentation and behaviour of AK here another knock onher record.

Stewards' Enquiry Text 1 = "The Stewards held an enquiry into the fall of Martin Lane, the rider of ARAGON KNIGHT, drawn seven, on leaving the stalls. They interviewed Lane. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the incident the Stewards found that the fall was caused by SPARKY JACK, drawn eight, jumping left out of the stalls in front of ARAGON KNIGHT, intimidating the colt and causing it to veer sharply right, unseating the rider. Being satisfied that the incident was accidental, the Stewards took no further action.".

Stewards' Enquiry Text 2 = "The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Veterinary Officer that SWEET TABOO, trained by David Evans, could not be identified from its passport and therefore the filly could not run. They interviewed the trainer and the Veterinary Officer. Having heard their evidence the Stewards referred the matter to the British Horseracing Authority.".

Update June 25th the matter heard at the BHA and the outcome was that Evans admitted he had, inadvertently, switched Pity Cash & Sweet Taboo during the winter so that they were put back intot he wrong stable after work. Evans putting this down to his staff not being able to differentiate the two small, bay fillies. The switch not recognised until Sweet Taboo turned up here and the Vet noted that the filly presented did not have markings as noted in the Passport presented with her (i.e. Pity Cash was here on the day and not ST. PC then an NR on Apr 20th while the matter investigated.

Full text of the hearing = "The Disciplinary Panel of the BHA on Thursday 25 June 2015 held an enquiry to establish whether or not P D Evans, a licensed trainer, had committed a breach of Rule (C)12 of the Rules of Racing concerning his failure to check the identity of SWEET TABOO (IRE) and PITY CASH (IRE) from the markings shown in the fillies’ respective passports as soon as they came into his care. The matter was reported to the BHA by the Veterinary Officer on duty at Newbury on 17 April 2015 following her inability to be able to identify the filly presented to her as SWEET TABOO (IRE) from her markings, which also resulted in the filly being prevented from running. The Panel accepted an admission from Evans that he was in breach of Rule (C)12. Evans’ written submission stated that the two fillies were checked by their passports and put in their respective stables last winter, but at some stage they were probably put into the wrong boxes by the stable lads and the mistake had gone unnoticed as both were small bay fillies. The Panel imposed a fine of £850 upon him.".
