=== Pre Race ===

Intersting Breeze Video for Gaelic Angel given she is by new sire Pour Moi who won over 9f as a 2yo. GA his 2nd runner of the season with the 3rd starting over a more, intuitively, likely 7f the next day. Video starts with GA already into full gallop coming to the 2f breeze start pole. Action looking a bit fast. But, uses little range and that fast action starting to slow before 1f run. Lack of range then means a slowish 2nd 1f. Starting at 6f because a free-going type with some cheap speed? Looks a solidly built smaller medium one and IP body length (sire was a more compact, deep Montjeu and not the tall rangy set-up). Looks usable on power but needs to use range more to find a distance to show ability at. Cannot keep that cadence up for 6f and needs to be more efficient going up to 7f+.

Trainer Appleby had his first debut win of season the previous day. In 2014, his first full year, he had 3 x debut wind by late July and then none until 5 from Sept 5th onward. His overall record 8 from 75. Inclined to still expect his FTOs to need to be better naturals to win at this stage over 6f. Jks Doyle & Buick both present as the Godolphin joint number 1s retained. Note that Sacred Heart was first entered as early as April 16th for the Craven meeting 5f maiden (but note Sense Of Fun the other stable entry for that race).

Roman Times showing no promise physically nor in the race on an early season debut. More interest in noting how far behind schedule the Dascombe 2yos are. Up to race 204 his record for 2015 was 7 runners making just a total of 9 runs for zero wins. The record for the equivalent period in 2014 was 21 runners, 54 runs for 7 wins. He had a complete break with no runners from May 7th until June 20th. This only his second runner after that break. Check what the problem was and consider how this will impact on his upcoming debuts. He has a large set of 2yos, including 5-6f types still to debut. How will the later debuts compare to his normal MO?

=== Post Race ===

Below is the picture of the fillies just after 2f out with the last race spring underway. Drifting Spirit is another 2-3L back from the left edge of the picture. Below that is the Photo Finish picture for the places with Alsaaden's tail at right. Moore on Drifting Spirit in yellow nearest the camera being the biggest Closer having started too far back in a sprint. Spencer on Jess in yellow at the top and already knocked off early and easing her back before the line.

Alsaaden not standing out for size and a touch narrow. But, as on debut, mentally mature and professional plus has a bit more of an engine than the size suggests. Travelling well in 2R and Hanagan taking the lead off Roman Times soon after halfway with the leader not giving a proper pace lead. Alsaaden not separating completely but after looking like she might drift back towards the chasers finding more in the last 1f. Jk Hanagan suggesting post race that she was pricking her ears in front and then got going again. Looking a Nursery types and presumably will get something around 80. Below average scope unless she strengthens.

Overall Pace not strong and turning into a bit of an extended sprint in the last 2f+. Proximity of smallish Florenza at the finish a worry.

Check what Moore was up to on Drifting Spirit. With the late race sprint under way DS well back near the rail then hampred by the hanging Sacred Harp about 1.5f out when starting to make progress. Ok effort in the last 1f+ given how far back she started and then having to get going again once part blocked. [Update] After VRev Moore got locked into Teach-to-Settle mode as an 'omage to retiring Hughes. DS a bit free and Moore hung onto her until she settled. Which meant she was at the back. Moore then doing nothing to make some ground back before 2f out. Left DS with an impossible job and a perfectly adequate effort from her given the too far back starting point and the issue in getting a clear run at making her effort. I think the BRD phrase is "not Ryan's finest hour". Meanwhile Frank let Jess flop out of stalls for 2L lost but did get active to get her to race prominently enough.

[July 15th] Sacred Harp a bit green overall and just Medium size in group. Hard driven soom after Halfway and losing ground on the leaders = how much green and how much outpaced? Veered right to the whip use around 1.5f out then the jk looking as if he was trying to pull up in the final 1f and finally heavily eased her later on. No explanation for that offerred to the Stewards.
