=== Post Race ===

Field raced spreadf across Centre Track. Elronaq & Eltezam hooked up as a leading pair racing each other with Shalaa only a fraction behind them but 3-4 lanes away from them alone on Cent-Stds strip. Sectional Times for Shalaa (Elronaq in brackets) :-
1st 1f = 14.86s (14.84)
2nd 1f = 11.11s (11.12)
3rd 1f = 11.01s (10.98)
4th 1f = 10.89s (11.09)
5th 1f = 10.97s (10.85)
6th 1f = 12.34s (12.93)

Fast conditions with a light tailwind. Previous race run in <1secs over the Course record and this race a fast time too. Elronaq & Eltezam have both looked sweaty, free runners before and both doing the same here and getting hooked up in centre track and racing each other throughout. Shalaa able to sit 3rd through halfway just behind that pair and clear of the others. Shalaa still travelling well into the last 2f as the other pair starting to creak a bit under thr pressure of the pace they were setting and the way they were racing. Shalaa able to kick forward from the lead they had given and could have won clearly but for wandering in front and ending up on the Far Side at the finish. Steady Pace able to produce the best forward effort of the deeper closers.

Taking performance by Shalaa and looking at least one class above the others and the size and scope for 3yo development. Go back to 'Magic' race 72, at NWBY and Shalaa wore the first colours and a shorter SP than Eltezam when they both made their debuts. Both looking promising in that race which also had Sixth Sense in it (+ the Cov 4th & Dragon Stakes winner, etc.) Gosden interviewed after the race and typically lucid in tying the loose ends together of the 'Story' (of why Shalaa might be the better/best one) vaguely visible beforehand. Gosden saying he had thought in early season Shalaa was his Coventry horse but has taken 2 previous runs to learn how to race. Too green on debut then too fiery AP when he won STO. Gosden adding that jk Hughes had said Shalaa's win was the best maiden he had ridden in before RASCT. Shalaa ridden by Havlin here with Dettori saying he had to stick with Cov 3rd Eltezam. Shalaa seeming to have nearly 'everything' here/ Size, power, straight mover, kick off a strong pace. Only niggle would be he wandered about when in front on his own or would have been and even more taking clear winner.

Anyone who thinks Spencer is a terrific jk needs to look at this race and understand there is NO excuse for the ride Frank gave Areen here. Sitting miles off a contested pace at ASCT is a set-up which seems to assist Spencer's stylle with the uphill HS. Even with a climb into the last 1f they do not stop in the same way here and not in fast conditions like this. Elronaq & Eltezam had worn themselves out by the finish and Areen still unable to get to them. C4 trying to excuse Spencer by saying Areen started slowly. We've been through this before, the blame-the-horse excuse is bogus. The consistent factor in slows starts is Frank. Think the implications of that through. The excuse is bogus anyway because Spencer proceeded to haul Areen back even further until he was last and could drop in. Nosebleed & giddines avoided for agoraphobic Frank.
