SUMMARY
Light to Medium NNE Wind = Direct Headwind in the HS (last 2f).

============

Interesting low level race tying some form lines together and raising some questions. So 'first pass' points :-
  • 1. Slow Pace with jk Egan on Sakhee's Jem slowing the pace down once he had XFd to the lead with SJ pulling mildly. Turned the race into a sub 2f sprint in the HS and hence the heaped finish. The slower pace not helping SJ on a couple of way, firstly not putting the newcomers & greenery under any pressure. Secondly getting into a short sprint did not seem to suit her.
  • 2. SJ disappointly smaller in this group and raising questions over her debut race and Paddock Rating. Looking 60s on relative size here.
  • 3. Her debut race second seemed to owe something to a Far Rail bias at the time. On the evidence of SJ's run here that Bias was big and needs factoring in with any races on that day. As proposed atthe time the NMKJ Mf race mixed up the abilities at the finish.
  • 4. A small sample size but Trainer Kelleway has a poor record with improving 2yos' ratings from FTO to STO ('steps') & they "don't all come of for a run, Brian..". More than half of her qualifying 2yos have run to lower ratings STO in 2011-14 and if you just look at season winners the record is poor.
  • 5. Abberley Dancer the first runner from a WDSR Auction fillies' ran the previous Monday which looked solid at the level and AD a good sign for the future form of that race. AD plain bigger than SJ here and despite running green and wide on the bend the slower pace meant she was alongside SJ for the sprint and overpowered her. AD a good example of how you have to work harder at understanding races than saying AD, quote one slack Pundit, "..finished a moderate 5th FTO". She ran fine for a Moore debut, looked a bigger one in the group there and, unlike SJ, ran in centre track away from the rail and needing marking up for that.
  • 6. You could make a case for holding the Estimate ratings down even further. Given that Rampers was giving 6-10lbs away to the others (before apprentices factored in on 2 of the others) she ran a high looking 20 for finishing last (beaten only just over 1.5L out wide) in a slow race. Consider this race as suspect form and messy to read.
