SUMMARY
Medium to Stiff SW wind = just over 1/2 headwind from the left.

=== Pre Race ===

Quote from the Hannon website day before this race = "Two of them run in the opener, the two-year-old race. Both are newcomers, with Hughesie on War Whisper. He is a nice big Royal Applause colt who was bought by the Doyles at Goffs. He goes well and we like him, so we are looking forward to getting him started. We also run George William, who is a nice Paco Boy colt, so, hopefully, both will do themselves justice.". Included more as an example of the mostly content free stuff that appears on their website. If you knew the Hannons target the course and debuts here are mostly season winners and winn include better types then the quote adds very little of substance to refine further where WW/GW fit on the 75+ ability scale.

Breeze Video for Noble Peace mostly below average but you wonder if you are missing something given Candy is a good judge when buying and he made the effort to get a private sale. NP ok and relaxed in the gather until pulling a bit just before the 2f pole & presumably reacting to the rider gathering himself. Smaller medium an just a medium build. Probably a slower breeze and seems to wander though it and not showing sprinter snap. Average reach F&B at most. Attitude buy?

=== Post Race ===

[June 2nd]

Filed raced on the stands rail and an Average pace at most. Some CZ action with the field bunching up for a 2f Sprint at the end of the race. Field wide spread across track towards 1f out with each runner making their efforts in Lanes. In Haste an easyish lead and in the best place to start the sprint. Staying on well enough in last 1f to hang on for win but with 3 others making ground on him. IH a medium+ one in the group raising a question about the overall level here. Running neaer rail perhaps some advantage (stops hanging right as much as centre track if nothing else) so perhaps mark Bobby Wheeler up a bit for making his effort widest..

War Whisper Hughes ridden and solidly built but similar size in group. Ran rail and Hughes the last to ask for the final effort inside the last 1.5f. Nothing much happened with WW not showing an extra pick up and Hughes using the whip inside the last 1f. WW still staying on at finish but why no pick up? George William making most ground in the sprint and showing some range in front staying on last 0.5f+. Got the slowest start from the widest draw (Dobbs not Spencer) or might well have won. Perhaps a classic 74 Auction type for Hannon which gets a higher OR rating and often win twice because the Hannon stable can target races so well (which they ought to be able to do given they effectively have a 'well stocked shop' of 150+ 2yos and can find something to suit any occasion or opportunity).

Captainthunderbolt an ok build but looking a smaller and neat one in this group. A bit overpowered even at this level. Travelled ok widest after a good start but found only lower level effort at 2f out and earliest stall and fade. Looks size limited. and later 60s say.

Welford running alongside Captainthunderbolt and similar size, perhaps a bit stronger overall but a bit on the smaller medium size if together. Running less settled than Captainthunderbolt and always a bit head up looking around. Low level effort at 2f out but made about 1L on Captainthunderbolt the fading later on and similar amount ahead at the line. Welford looking fit for day but can improve a bit for full professionalism. One of a number of similar types 'Class Dropping' to BTON STO (incl Captainthunderbolt).
