Mokarris review – this seems a confusing race, I am not sure that ground and draw did not play a more significant part than appears apparent on the surface. It feels like a race I may get wildly wrong, partly due to arriving out of breath as they circled the paddock full of M6 stress. I like to arrive at least 1 hour before any race I am going to review.

Mokarris – guilty of overlooking this one to some extent due to an irrational under-estimation of Simon Crisford. Mokarris well proportioned, and fit. Probably a full medium size, the three parts of the story front, middle and back all nicely equal. Athletic, hard to crib the way he won, just a suspicion that the better ones he beat were not ready. 87

Tafaakhor – I was not that taken by him at York and saw nothing here to change my mind, a bit heavy and over compact through the mid section. 78

Cajmere – Tom D always has his runners ready for Haydock. This one no exception. Bottom of medium to top end of small. Neat ready type. Looked a bit undersized compared to many. Fitness allowed him to stay on past better ones. 74

Final Reckoning – Similar size to Mokarris, less fit and did not look as ready as many of Charlie Appleby’s have this season. However ok type in the style of Tafaakhor. A half size bigger and and a bit more length and scope. A tad downhill at the shoulder. 81

Chickenfortea – have to ask what little CforT was doing staying on amongst these and another reason to be sceptical about the nature of this race. CforT a neatly made grey that would have to be described as tiny but with an over developed behind. Also mentally immature and skittish in the paddock using up lots of energy. As he showed such pace and stuck on moderately well despite the above I think he may be a little natural. 73

Ok By Me – Good size for an Evans filly, medium. Not looking out of place amongst the colts. Bit weak at the shoulder and not as forward in debut as many of his. Improve, perhaps over further. 76

Rashford’s Double – Big strong lad, lot of condition for a Fahey debutant. He does not seem to ready his 6f+ types in the same way as his 5f ones. Neck looks a bit stubby in the picture, appears to stretch out ok. Lack of fitness appears to have got to him as he faded back after showing speed. 81

Graton – Ordinary type, limited by size, he is just below medium without much scope and it is interesting to see him in the race between Rashford’s D and The Big Short to get an idea of what big boys they are. 65

Juanito Chico – Quite a taking individual, well proportioned, medium. Green and immature in the paddock. Should improve a lot for this. Hopefully Mr Jarvis will find a less challenging bunch for him next time. 76

The Big Short – well named as far as the big is concerned. Tall strong chestnut, picture perhaps makes him look fitter than he was. A typical Charlie Hills debut, too much fat to do himself justice, like Waqaas on debut. This one a bit more athletic and perhaps not quite the quality of Waqaas. 86

Il Sicario – a puzzle here as he looks to have plenty of what Tailor’s Row had the day before but ran very badly. Maybe a bit leggy or just slow? Could be much better and may snap together nto 70-80 which is a cop out but inexplicable run.

On Show – Much too green to do himself justice. Looked fit but ran his race in the paddock. Lightly made medium. 75

Infatuated – Beginning to see a Tim Easterby type. He seems to like a really heavy bodied colt. Infatuated, top end of medium for now but looks like he will develop into a big strong handicapper. Did not appear to have learnt how to run as yet. 79 – 81 someday, maybe better.
