GS from GGF on Decs. GStick 09:00am.

Rail Out by 5yds on Bend and Fair Rail by 5yds HS. Says that this increases Race Distance by 10yds. Which is the same underestimating the SDWN CoC always does.

19DegC. Medium to Stiff SW Wind = 3/4+ Headwind from Left HS.

Not a strong performance neede to win and more judging potential for future. 3 with some Group poss made 1st 3 but in deifferent ways. Outstrip a small, neat & ready one in mould of Ryan's Silver Grey a few years back. Doesn't stand out but has a kick (close to Qkn) that got him from 4th to leading then clear in 0.5f+ from being alongside Toormoore. That break meant he could almost hang on from the bigger colts trying to run him down having taken longer to find top gear. Outstrip might win a weak Group race but not real long-term Group qual and his size will limit him and get him found out.

Toormore bigger type but took longer to get going than Outstrip and more of a reacher and looking more a stayer and 8f better. Did well to run down Outstrip and did not look likely until the last 50yds but Hughes knew he could get there 2 stride from the line and able to drop his hands and be sitting up as passing the line when that looked unlikely a few strides before. Ok prospect to develop.

Interesting that Coventry 2nd Parbold not favourite behind, & just in front of, two horses who had only won maidens on sole runs. Form of that behind War Command look barely 90s. Parbold medium but bulky barrel & ok length. Got 5L+ back and like Toormore lacked the immediate kick of Outstrip but a solid PO effort to get from last-1f to go past 4 x non-Group poss types and be closing on other pair at finish. Like the Cov run again staying on through tiring horses. Need to see what he can do when racing nearer the pace.

Interesting aside on C4 with MaJo apparently having said he did not think Lanark was up to Pattern races but he felt he had been forced to go that way bec Tester had upped him to OR97 for the NWBY Conds win which ruled out Nurseries.
